This document is an agreement between you, the person using this website, and SlowDen, the operator of slowden.com. Throughout this document "SlowDen", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that operator, and "you" and "your" refer to you. SlowDen is run by an independent creator rather than by a company with departments, and the practical consequence is worth stating plainly at the start: when this document says that a request will be handled by a person, that is literally true, and when it says a reply may take time, that is also literally true.
By opening any page on this website, by playing any game listed on it, by submitting a game to it, by entering a Slow Cook challenge, or by sending us a message through any form on it, you accept these terms. If any part of this document is unacceptable to you, the appropriate response is to stop using the website. There is no account to close and nothing to cancel, because SlowDen does not create accounts; ceasing to use the site is a complete withdrawal.
These terms apply alongside the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, the Copyright and Takedown Policy and the Disclaimer. Where a specific document addresses a subject in more detail than this one does, the more specific document governs that subject.
SlowDen is a catalogue of browser games. It performs three functions, and it is useful to understand each one because your rights and our responsibilities differ across them.
First, SlowDen lists partner games. These are games supplied through a commercial partnership with Playgama, a game distribution platform. When you play one of these, the game is loaded inside a frame from Playgama's servers. SlowDen does not host the game, did not build it, and cannot modify it. Each partner game is credited to the studio that made it.
Second, SlowDen lists games submitted by their own developers. A developer sends a link through the submission form and the game appears in the catalogue. Depending on whether the developer's server permits framing, the game is either shown inside a frame on SlowDen or linked to directly. Either way, the game is hosted by the developer, not by us.
Third, SlowDen hosts a very small number of games itself, which are identified as such on their own pages and credited to their authors.
SlowDen is not a game engine, a publisher, an app store, a payment processor, a social network, a marketplace or an escrow service. It does not take a cut of anything a developer earns, does not sell games, does not sell downloads, and does not accept money from visitors in any form. There is nothing on this website to buy.
SlowDen does not require an account, so it cannot verify anyone's age, and it does not attempt to. The catalogue is intended to be broadly suitable for a general audience, and games are excluded from it when they are obviously unsuitable for one.
If you are below the age of majority in the place where you live, you may use the website for its ordinary purpose — browsing and playing games — but you should not submit a game, enter a Slow Cook challenge, or send us your email address without the agreement of a parent or guardian. Those actions involve giving us contact details and making statements about ownership of creative work, and a minor should not be doing either alone.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to slowden.official@gmail.com and we will delete it. We will not require you to prove anything elaborate before doing so; a credible request is enough, because the cost of deleting a record we did not need is trivial and the cost of retaining it against a parent's wishes is not.
You may browse SlowDen, play the games listed on it, search the catalogue, share links to any page, and quote short passages from our own writing with attribution and a link. None of this requires permission and none of it costs anything.
You may not do the following, and this list should be read as describing categories of conduct rather than as an exhaustive enumeration of every prohibited act:
Where conduct of this kind is detected, our remedies are limited but real: we can remove a listing, block a submission route, and decline further correspondence. We do not pursue visitors and we have no mechanism for doing so, since we hold no accounts and no payment relationships.
Anyone may submit a finished browser game at any time through the submission form. There is no fee, no queue, no minimum quality bar stated in advance, and no requirement to have entered a Slow Cook challenge.
By submitting a game you represent, and we rely on your representation, that each of the following is true:
You keep every right you had in your game. Submitting it to SlowDen transfers no ownership whatsoever. What you grant us is a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to do the following for as long as your game is listed: to display the game's title, description, developer name and cover image on SlowDen; to generate a page for the game on this website; to embed the game in a frame, or link to it, as its hosting permits; to include it in the site's own listings, categories and search; and to mention it in SlowDen's articles, newsletters and social media posts.
This permission is revocable. It ends when your game is removed, and you may ask for removal at any time for any reason or none.
A submitted game appears on the site straight away. There is no review queue standing between a developer and publication. You should understand what follows from that: the listing you receive is the listing you described, assembled from the information you typed, and nobody has played the game before it went up.
Immediate publication is not an endorsement, a quality judgement, an award, or a statement that SlowDen has verified anything about your game. It is a technical outcome of the submission form. Separately from publication, a person does read submissions, and selection for a homepage feature is a human decision that is never guaranteed and never automatic.
The submission form asks you to rate how easy the submission process was, and that field must be completed before a game can be published. The rating is feedback about SlowDen's own process, it may be any value on the scale, and a low rating publishes a game exactly as readily as a high one. A written comment is invited and optional. Ratings and comments may be shown publicly on SlowDen, attributed to the developer name and game title you supplied; your email address is never shown.
You may have your game removed from SlowDen by writing to slowden.official@gmail.com from the address you used to submit it, or by any other means that makes it reasonably clear the request is genuine. No reason is required. We will not attempt to talk you out of it, will not require a form, and will not impose a waiting period.
We may also remove a listing on our own initiative. The reasons we actually act on are these: the link no longer works or no longer leads to the game; the game turns out to contain something the representations above said it did not; a credible complaint of infringement is received; the game presents a security risk to the people playing it; a second person makes a credible claim to own it and the dispute is unresolved; or the listing is a duplicate.
Removal means the listing stops being shown. It does not delete the game, which was never hosted here, and it does not delete our record of the submission, which we may retain for the reasons described in the Privacy Policy.
Slow Cook is SlowDen's recurring game-making challenge. Several prompts are open at once, each round runs for a stated period, and the closing date is published on the challenge page and on the homepage.
Entry is free and open to anyone. Any engine or toolchain may be used. Entries may be made by individuals or teams. An entry must be a browser game, must be playable at a public link, and must satisfy the same ownership representations as an ordinary submission.
Slow Cook is a showcase, not a lottery, a contest of chance, or a promotion with a prize fund. There is no cash prize, no physical prize and no entry fee. What a selected entry receives is editorial: a feature on the SlowDen homepage and a mention across SlowDen's own channels. Selection is made by a person, is inherently subjective, and is never guaranteed to any entrant, including entrants who satisfy every stated requirement of a prompt.
Entering a challenge does not transfer any right in your game beyond the display permission described above. We may describe, screenshot and discuss entries when writing about a round.
We may change a prompt, extend or shorten a round, or decline to select any entry at all in a given round. Where a round's terms change materially while it is running, the change will be stated on the Slow Cook page.
SlowDen accepts written reviews of the site, suggestions, and bug reports. When you submit any of these you grant us permission to publish the text, in whole or in part, on SlowDen and in SlowDen's own promotional material, attributed as you supplied it.
You must own what you write, and it must be your honest opinion. Do not submit text that is defamatory, that impersonates another person, that contains someone else's personal information, or that you were paid by a third party to write.
We do not filter reviews by sentiment. Critical reviews are published on the same terms as favourable ones, and we regard that as the only arrangement under which a published review means anything at all. We may decline to publish, or may remove, material that is unlawful, abusive, off-topic or evidently fabricated.
SlowDen's own material — the site design, the written articles, the category pages, the descriptive writing, the SlowDen name and logo, and the code that assembles the site — belongs to SlowDen and is protected by copyright and, where applicable, trade mark law.
Every game listed on SlowDen belongs to whoever made it. Partner games belong to their studios and are shown under our arrangement with Playgama. Submitted games belong to the developers who submitted them. Cover images, titles and trade marks belonging to those parties are used to identify their games and remain theirs.
Where SlowDen has generated a placeholder cover image for a game that arrived without one, that image consists of the game's own title and the developer's own name set on a background. It is identification, not artwork supplied by the developer, and it is replaced whenever the developer sends real art.
You may link to any page on SlowDen without asking. You may quote a short passage of our writing with attribution and a link. You may not republish our articles in full, use the SlowDen name or logo to suggest an association that does not exist, or present our catalogue as your own.
This is the most important limitation in this document, and it deserves to be understood rather than skimmed.
The great majority of the games on SlowDen run on servers that are not ours. When a game loads inside a frame, the contents of that frame are delivered by the game's own host. When a game is opened by a direct link, you have left SlowDen entirely. In both cases the other party's own terms and privacy practices apply to what happens there, and ours do not.
In particular, and without limiting the generality of that statement: partner games served through Playgama include Playgama's own advertising, which SlowDen neither supplies, selects, sees nor profits from directly, and which may set its own cookies or identifiers. SlowDen carries no advertising code of its own anywhere on this website.
We choose what to list and we remove things that turn out to be harmful, but we do not control, monitor in real time, or take responsibility for the content, availability, advertising, data handling or security of a third party's game or website. A link on SlowDen is a pointer, not a warranty.
SlowDen is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that the website will be uninterrupted, that every link will work, that every game will load, or that the catalogue is free of error. Games that worked yesterday are taken down by their developers, servers stop responding, and hosting arrangements change, all without notice to us.
We may add games, remove games, reorganise categories, rewrite descriptions, change the design, move or retire pages, and alter or discontinue any feature of the website at any time. We may do this without notice and without liability. Where we retire a page that people may have linked to, we try to redirect it rather than leave a dead end, but we do not undertake to do so in every case.
Counts, dates and descriptive statements on this site are maintained in good faith and derived from our own records wherever possible. They may nonetheless be wrong or out of date. If you find an error, telling us is genuinely useful.
To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies to you, SlowDen disclaims all warranties of every kind, whether express, implied or statutory, in relation to this website and everything reachable through it. This includes, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, or non-infringement, and any warranty arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade.
We do not warrant that the website or any game listed on it is free of viruses or other harmful components, that defects will be corrected, or that the website will meet your requirements.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is so, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in this document removes a right you hold that cannot lawfully be removed.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SlowDen and anyone working with SlowDen will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunity or anticipated savings, arising out of or in connection with your use of this website or any game reachable through it, whether the claim is framed in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised that such damages were possible.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to this website is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid SlowDen in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, since SlowDen charges visitors nothing, will ordinarily be nil — or one hundred Indian Rupees.
Nothing in this document excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
If you submit a game, enter a Slow Cook challenge, or publish any other material through SlowDen, you agree to indemnify and hold SlowDen harmless against any claim, demand, loss, liability or reasonable cost, including reasonable legal fees, brought by a third party and arising from that material — in particular from a claim that it infringes that party's rights, or that the representations you made when you submitted it were untrue.
This obligation does not apply to the extent that the claim arises from something SlowDen did wrong, and it does not apply where you had no reasonable way of knowing the material was problematic.
SlowDen is open to the public and requires no account, so there is ordinarily nothing to suspend. Where conduct of the kind described in these terms occurs, we may remove a listing, decline future submissions from a source, block a submission route, or restrict access to the extent our hosting arrangements permit.
The provisions of these terms which by their nature should survive — the intellectual property section, the disclaimers, the limitation of liability, the indemnity, and this section — survive any cessation of your use of the website.
These terms may be amended. When they are, the revised version is published on this page and the "last updated" date at the top is changed. We do not send individual notifications, because we hold no list of users to notify.
Where a change materially reduces your rights or materially increases your obligations, we will say so plainly at the top of this page for a reasonable period. Continuing to use the website after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or with your use of SlowDen, are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of India are to have jurisdiction over any such dispute.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this clause does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country in which you live, and you may have the right to bring proceedings there.
Before anything formal: write to us. SlowDen is one person and a catalogue of games. Almost every problem that has ever reached us — a wrong credit, a broken link, an unwanted listing, a disputed claim of ownership — was resolved by email within a few days, and none of it needed a lawyer.
Entire agreement. These terms, together with the documents they refer to, constitute the whole agreement between you and SlowDen concerning this website, and replace any earlier understanding on the same subject.
Severability. If any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable, it is to be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if that is not possible, and the remaining provisions continue in full force.
No waiver. A failure to enforce a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these terms. We may assign ours to a successor who takes over the operation of SlowDen, on notice published on this website.
No agency. Nothing in these terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship between you and SlowDen. Listing a developer's game does not make that developer our agent, nor us theirs.
Third parties. Except as expressly stated, no person other than you and SlowDen has any right to enforce these terms.
Headings. Headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
There is one address, it is read by a person, and it is the right address for every subject covered by this document:
Useful things to include: the URL of the page or game you are writing about, what you expected, what happened instead, and — if you are asking for something to be removed or corrected — enough detail for us to identify the right listing without guessing.
