Which browser games actually work on a phone

By Liza · SlowDen · Published 23 August 2026

“Works on mobile” is the least reliable label in browser gaming. So we read the control list of all 200 games on SlowDen and sorted them by what the studios themselves actually documented. The result is less tidy than a marketing page would like — and that is the point.

The honest count. Of 200 games: 92 document touch input, 69 name a keyboard or mouse only, and 39 publish no control list at all. We are not claiming those 39 fail on a phone. We are saying nobody told us, so we will not pretend to know.

Why we stopped trusting the “mobile ready” flag

Most game catalogues carry a boolean from the supplier — mobileReady, availableOnDevice, or similar. It is tempting to print it and move on.

We checked it against the games’ own control text and it contradicted itself. In one batch we looked at, the supplier flag claimed phone support for 12 of 14 games whose own controls named a keyboard only. A game cannot simultaneously require WASD and run on a touchscreen with no keyboard.

So we use a rule that costs us reach and gains us accuracy: trust a “no”, never trust a “yes”. If the studio’s own control list names touch, tap, swipe or an on-screen joystick, we say it works on a phone. If it names only keys, we say reach for a computer. If it says nothing, we say we do not know — and every game page on this site prints that admission out loud.

Where the phone-friendly games actually are

They are not spread evenly. Some categories are almost entirely touch-documented; others lean hard on a keyboard.

Puzzle is the safest bet on a phone — 15 games with documented touch input, and the genre rarely needs precise timing. 2 Player is the worst, for an obvious reason: most of those games expect two people sharing one keyboard, which a phone does not have.

Good places to start on a phone

All of these name touch input in their own control lists.

Every game page on SlowDen carries its own device line, taken from the same control list this article was built from. If the two ever disagree, the game page is the one to believe — it is generated from the registry directly.

What to expect on a phone regardless

Two things are true of every browser game on a phone, and neither is anyone’s fault:

There is no download and no install for any of them, which is the half we can actually promise. Whether your network lets slowden.com through is the other half, and we cover that in what “unblocked” really means.

If you build browser games

The single most useful thing you can ship with a game is an honest control list. Thirty-nine of the games we host publish none, which means we cannot tell a player on a phone whether it is worth their time — so a lot of them will not click.

Name the inputs. Say “WASD or arrow keys” or “tap and drag”. It takes one line and it is the difference between a page that converts and a page that hedges. If you have a finished browser game, you can submit it to SlowDen free — any engine, any skill level.

The one-line version. 92 of our 200 games document touch input, 69 are keyboard-only, and for 39 we genuinely do not know. Start with Puzzle on a phone, and check the device line on any game page before you commit.
